Wilbur Wright runs alongside the Wright Flyer flown by his younger brother Orville at the beginning of the world’s first man-carrying, powered, sustained flight by a heavier-than-air vehicle at 10:35 AM on December 17, 1903. The brothers had designed and experimented with un-powered gliders for four years prior to this historic flight at this Kill Devil Hills, Kitty Hawk, North Carolina site.
