Peacemaker, Convair’s B-36

18” x 24” Painted in 1975

8 August 1946 was the date of the first flight of the huge intercontinental bomber which was capable of carrying a 10,000 pound bomb load over a distance of 5,000 miles and returning to its base without refueling.  Convair’s B-36 served the Strategic Air Command as a deterrent to aggression from 1947 until it retired in 1959.
